Our Story

Kulturrummet grew out of years of our co-founders’ hands-on work in Söder — building programs in public space, collaborating with local associations, and learning what it takes to keep culture accessible when resources are uneven.

Söder is many things at once: a place of arrival and everyday life, of creativity and resilience, and also of the gaps that appear when services, opportunities, and meeting places don’t reach everyone equally. For us, it’s not “a problem to solve.” It’s a neighborhood with deep community assets — people, skills, stories, and cultural practices that deserve room, continuity, and visibility.

That’s why Söder matters beyond Helsingborg. It represents a broader condition found in many neighborhoods across Sweden: places shaped by migration and inequality, but also by strong local networks and cultural life — where the question isn’t whether culture exists, but whether it gets the support and infrastructure to grow.

Kulturrummet exists to build that infrastructure: a street-level space and a wider network where artists, young people, and civil society can create, meet, learn, and collaborate — locally rooted, while connected to the city and beyond.

Kulturrummet emerged from a need for a local, self-organised space for art, dialogue, and collective learning. We bring together artists, cultural practitioners, and communities to imagine other ways of living, working, and being together — beyond institutional norms and hierarchies. We experiment with formats that center everyday life, shared authorship, and situated knowledge.

Kulturrummet invites artistic and civic imagination to take space. We work at the edges of geography, discourse, and belonging — shaping a more just and vibrant cultural landscape. Our programs unfold through curated experiments, creative collaborations, and grounded responses to the urgencies of our time: social, urban, and environmental.

Our Vision

A vibrant and inclusive Söder where art, culture, and creativity connect people, generate new possibilities, and inspire change.

Our Mission

Kulturrummet is a creative and cultural hub and network embedded in Söder, Helsingborg. We curate spaces, programs, and collaborations that bring together creatives, youth, and civil society — exploring how creativity can strengthen communities, deepen belonging, and open new cultural pathways.

Our Theory of Change

When we provide accessible spaces for artistic and civic engagement, support creatives/youth/associations through targeted programs, and build partnerships across sectors and regions — we grow trust, skills, and cultural leadership locally, while connecting Söder’s practice to broader resources and visibility.
